Re: [nafex] Colorado Test Autumn in November

I've been surprised with the losses here in southern west-central KY.
Actually thought the winter of 2013 was worse than 2014, but the plants
evidently had a different experience.
Fall was fairly typical, with no unusual plummets. More snow than I've
seen here in 20 years. Only a couple of nights of subzero temps - and we
had 6-12 inches of snow cover at the time; unusual, in that most years,
when we get into single digits or lower, there's no snow.
Very sparse bloom on any apples or pears. No blooms on cherries or
blueberries, and extensive winter kill on some 15+ yr old rabbiteye bushes
- guess it's time for some major rejuvenative pruning!
Kiowa blackberries killed back to the snow line - no berries THIS year.
All pomegranates killed back to the ground; have not had a chance to figure
out which ones are resprouting from the base.
Mulberries unscathed.
Hybrid Rosseyanka persimmon and Geneva long killed back to the rootstock
(but both also had borer infestation). Haven't looked to see if any of the
struggling D.kaki trees survived... suspect that if any did, Saijo will be
the one.
