Re: [nafex] Ancient Fruit Cornelian Cherry Warrants a Comeback (ABC News)

C.mas in full bloom here in KY right now.

Saw a post on Facebook one night last week... nice photo, with caption
"Cornus mas fruit" , and underneath, the 'see translation hypertext'...
clicked on it... "Cornus more fruit"... from Spanish....
Duh. I knew 'mas' meant 'more' in el Espanol... but I'm not certain that
that is where that specific epithet came from.

Summer and fall also bring fruits, which, unknown to most people, are
edible. The fruits - oval, fire-engine red, with a single stone - look a lot
like ...

Re: [nafex] Ancient Fruit Cornelian Cherry Warrants a Comeback (ABC News)

I've had a single cornus mas (Cornelian Cherry) tree for 12 years here in
Chicago. It grew 14' high, 12'wide, a multi-stemmed beauty which the
smalls birds loved, and last year yielded 5 gallons of berries, plenty for
sharing. (It unfortunately was tipped over in one of our high wind
storms...) But the jams made from this fruit were unusual and delicious -
I've made plain, with rosemary, with ginger and black pepper, and with
cardamon. I highly recommend this fruit tree for smaller urban yards!

[nafex] Willamette nurseries

Gang,

I just thought I would mention I once again ordered some root stocks from Willamette nurseries and once again received excellent stock precisely delivered on the agreed ship date. They are very nice rootstocks. This is the 3rd time I have ordered from them and each time I have been very happy. I also ordered from Cummins once and was very happy also. I have had very mixed results with other suppliers.

Of special note, Willamette has exceptional customer service.

The minimums from Willamette is 50-100 rootstocks of a single variety.

And it bears mentioning I have no relationship with this or any supplier other than as a customer.

Cheers,

the fluffy bunny

I can send you some. What's your address? Is it okay to just fold it and put it in an ordinary envelope?
